Why do people hate sora

The upbeat attitude and never say die outlook is refreshing when everyone is so focused on being "dark, angsty, and realistic". Not to mention, it was the writers who really dumbed down and lost braincells after COM, not Sora.

I don't hate Sora, he's one of my favourite characters in the series. I do agree though that he has become a little more stupid in the recent games which does make him a little annoying, why SE? I also don't really understand how you could play a game where you play as the character you hate Sephiroth Guardian of Light.

I've to admit that Sora is on the higher ranks of my favorites list I have no single favorite character , but that doesn't mean everything with him is totally sunshine. The main critic point, as others pointed already out several times, has to be that his natural friendliness and upbeat attitude gets warped into plain stupidity in more than one case in the newer games. I mean, it's funny to see Joshua and Riku make fun of Sora's slow grasp on things and inability to understand more complex matters, but the writers sometimes overdo it so that it appears as if Sora has some "brain-dead" moments.

All he does is talk about friendship and hearts. And in the first game it was "finding Riku and Kairi" which he wouldn't shut up about for more than 5 minutes and in KH:ReCom it's "Riku! And memories. And how important they are.

Maybe I'm spoiled by JRPGs where the protagonist has a personality like in the Final Fantasy series, where characters start out seeming one-dimensional but unravel them and introduce layers to their character.

I think that was the best one the could have ever gotten. Because good voice actors are hard to get.

In my opinion, they still need to find a good Aerith voice actor. Every time she said something in Kingdom hearts 2 my sisters would mute the TV. Kingdom hearts is the same voice actor as Advent children. But it seems Mina did a better job in AC. I like the voice actor they used for her in crisis core.
